The Solicitors’ Charity CEO with the St Paul’s, Covent Garden Church Choir, spreading calming cheer

St Paul’s Church, Covent Garden, London, also known as the Actor’s Church, held its annual Advent Service on 8th December with hundreds in attendance.

The service featured a range of classic carols and some choice favourites of the 30-strong choir, like Gabriel’s Message, a Basque Folk carol. All were welcomed to this service on a wet and windy London evening, the capital city still shaking off Storm Darragh.

The Choirmaster, who also happens to be the CEO of The Solicitors’ Charity, Nick Gallagher, reflected: “This is one of my favourite services to conduct with my friends in the choir (some of whom are solicitors!). For me, it tells me that Christmas is truly on its way and these melodies sung unaccompanied really do tug at the soul”.

He went on to say: “Singing is one of the best things you can do to boost your mood and increase your feeling of wellbeing. I hope everyone can enjoy singing of some kind (even in the shower!) at some point over the festive season.”

And one of the very aptly named congregation members, Carol, kindly provided homemade mince pies and mulled wine after the service to keep festive spirits high and the evening chill out. The Solicitors’ Charity wishes all its supporters, volunteers and staff a happy and stress-free time at Christmas and into the New Year.

The Solicitors’ Charity is closed to new enquiries from 23rd December 2024 (3pm) to 6th January 2025 (9am).
