Putting wellbeing first with Psychological Safety Week
At The Solicitors’ Charity, we believe that wellbeing should be well-rounded – while professional achievement is valuable, it’s just one part of the picture. We are shining a spotlight on Psychological Safety Week, which runs from 22nd to 26th September 2025, and is designed to encourage healthier, safer, and supportive workplaces.
Psychological safety is about more than simply being comfortable at work. It is the feeling that you can share ideas, raise concerns, or even admit mistakes without fear of criticism or judgement. Yet, from our conversations with solicitors, it’s clear that not everyone feels this level of support within their workplace.
When psychological safety is present, people experience better mental health, stronger resilience, improved collaboration with colleagues, greater creativity and innovation, and an overall increase in job satisfaction.
Eugene Farrell, Vice Chair and Trustee of The Solicitors’ Charity (and the Charity’s spokesperson on mental health and wellbeing) shared: “We all understand the term Health and Safety; however Psychological Safety is subtly different. It’s about a workplace where our psychological health is recognised and respected. It’s more than simply being comfortable at work, it’s about being you, it’s about bringing all of yourself to work.

Psychological Safety Week has been created by business psychologists at Pearn Kandola and is supported by the Financial Times. Throughout the week, there will be expert webinars and panel discussions, daily challenges designed to encourage healthy habits, and a variety of resources such as guides and articles to help start conversations and spread awareness.
Psychological Safety Week is a chance to pause and prioritise wellbeing. By taking part, you can help create healthier workplaces and a stronger profession. By saving the date, sharing resources with colleagues and joining the online conversation using #PSW2025, solicitors can take practical steps to bring the principles of psychological safety into their working lives.
Of course, even with the best workplace culture, there may be times when life feels overwhelming. That is why we are here for you at The Solicitors’ Charity. We provide confidential support for solicitors and their families to help them overcome emotional, professional, physical, and financial wellbeing challenges. If you ever need us, we’re always here to help.
