Connecting Community & Care at Bournemouth’s Conveyancing Conference

Yesterday, The Solicitors’ Charity was pleased to take part in the Bournemouth, Poole & Christchurch Law Society’s Property Group Conference – a bright and energising event held on the UK’s south coast, bringing together conveyancers from across the region for a day of learning, discussion and community connection.

Our Director of Impact & Development, Anita McCallum, and Ed Gould from our marketing team were invited to join the agenda, which featured a strong line-up of subject specialists. Delegates heard from industry experts including Matt Lewis on leasehold reform, Nick Treble on environmental and contaminated land issues, and Ian Quayle from IQ Training, who delivered a well-received session on avoiding negligence claims and client complaints.

Anita followed these morning sessions with an introduction to The Solicitors’ Charity’s work, connecting the room to the full range of wellbeing services available to solicitors and their families. She also highlighted the rising need across the profession – with requests for wellbeing support of all kinds increasing sharply over the past year. Real case examples helped bring this to life, illustrating the range of challenges legal professionals face and the impact the charity can have at critical moments.

Delegates were engaged, supportive and full of ideas about how we can continue to strengthen our work with conveyancers and local practice communities. It was encouraging to see such openness around wellbeing and such a willingness to contribute to the health of the profession as a whole.

A special thank you goes to Mandy Heath, whose hard work and long-standing support for the Charity helped shape an excellent day. Her commitment to building a strong, connected local law-society community was evident throughout the event.

This conference was a reminder of the value of regional legal networks – places where learning, support and shared experience come together to strengthen the profession.

If you’re part of a local law society… We’re always happy to attend regional events and speak to members about the support The Solicitors’ Charity offers.  If your law society or practice group would like us to visit, simply get in touch with our team – we’d love to join you.
