Meet the Team

Abi
Stidston

Head of Wellbeing & Grants

I am responsible for the collaborative leadership of our Wellbeing & Grants Team and its operations, which are at the centre of the Charity’s core activities in providing financial, emotional and practical support to people.

I work with our Case Managers to ensure we have the most effective processes and methodology to provide tailored wellbeing support and grants for our clients and to continue to deliver best practice case management.

As well as providing management oversight and support, I have responsibility for managing my own personal caseload, supporting people with their individual needs, whilst providing impartial, non-judgemental support.

I am responsible for working with our partners, ensuring that we are providing the best support possible to solicitors, former solicitors and their dependants. I will always keep my ear to the ground to provide the best support we can.

It is inspiring to be part of such a passionate and hard-working team, all striving to make a positive impact!

Andrew A.
Imbrah

Finance Director

I am responsible for reporting on the Charity’s financial performance and position by producing monthly management accounts, the annual statutory accounts, regular cashflows and annual budgets for the trustees, CEO and management team.

This enables timely strategic and operational decision-making and ensures that stakeholders and the public are fully informed about the Charity’s financial activities and the extent of support their donations enable. I record and report on all the conditional as well as other generous donations we receive from the profession to support our work.

I maintain relationships with many of the Charity’s key stakeholders including, but not limited to, the Charity’s bank managers, donor firms, suppliers, colleagues, the CEO, external and internal auditors.

I have always found the vision and mission of this Charity inspirational, and these values were key to me joining the organisation. It has been tremendously rewarding to be a part of a small but forward-thinking team that works tirelessly to meet its goals and to help so many clients towards self-sustainability.

In effect, I am responsible for shining a light on the profession’s generosity. Please remember that firms can send their conditional donations as well as other donations to this Charity. Without this support we could not continue to help all those solicitors and dependants who approach us in times of need.

McCallum

Director of Impact & Development

I look after the areas of marketing and communications which are well-established, and I am developing our fundraising, impact measurement and volunteering approaches. It’s quite a wide brief!

You’ll often see me at events or meetings with solicitors, finding out more about them, their challenges and learning how we can continue to provide relevant and timely support to the profession.

It’s a small team and the rewarding part is knowing that promoting the Charity, and making sure it’s highlighted within the legal community, means that people are aware they can come to us to seek wellbeing assistance.

It’s inspiring to be a part of this essential work and safety net for a profession that does so much for others at difficult times – like house moves, divorces and employment issues. In a nutshell, I am responsible for ensuring solicitors (and former solicitors) know we are here and that they (as individuals and in firms) can play their part in this important work by donating their time or money and signing up to be part of The Solicitors Register.

Nick
Gallagher

Chief Executive Officer

My role is to have overall day-to-day responsibility for the Charity, providing leadership, management and direction.

I support the wonderful staff team to be able to do their jobs and our dedicated and highly experienced trustees to set strategy and policy and to ensure good governance.

I’ve been CEO for five years now but before I joined, I had many years’ experience in other charities including leading three other legal charities. As a result, I have a good understanding of the lives, stresses and strains of solicitors.

We are a small but committed team and I’m inspired by the way we have developed to provide really impactful support to solicitors in need, support that helps many return to living independent, self-sustaining lives. For others the support is ongoing, sometimes life-long.

There’s a lot more for us to do not least making our work better known. Only then will more solicitors and their dependants be aware of us and feel confident to take that first step of asking for help or donating time or money to help us deliver vital assistance.

Ricardo
Premchand

Head of Operations

I am responsible for providing coherence to the Charity’s processes and practises, optimising systems to meet the Board’s strategic objectives, and developing and embedding effective casework, donor, finance, volunteering and reporting workflows into the Charity’s CRM platform.

As a member of the senior team, I work towards enhancing service delivery across all departments by coordinating activities and communication between colleagues and identifying and mitigating risks associated with all aspects of operations. I also assist the CEO with the overall management of the Charity by leading in areas related to IT, data management, staff training and cybersecurity.

As the longest serving staff member I have, over the last 10 years, been privileged to help The Solicitors’ Charity evolve and grow - in both its size and reach by increasing the range of support available. With a renewed focus on holistic wellbeing, the Charity, like other occupational support charities today, now offers more types of help than ever before!

It has been tremendously rewarding to help develop and administer this new approach. Positive feedback from our clients has shown that we are becoming increasingly effective in improving wellbeing while helping many solicitors and their dependants become self-sustaining through emotional, physical, professional, and financial support.
