Three peaks. Three weeks. One cause.

After completing his first half marathon at 53, Ricardo Premchand is taking his next challenge to new heights, climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, Wales, and England to raise money for The Solicitors’ Charity.

From running again to taking on three peaks

A year ago, Ricardo was told his plantar fasciitis was so severe that regular running might no longer be an option. At one point, even walking had become painful.

But, rather than giving up, Ricardo approached his recovery in much the same way he approaches his work in operations: understand the problem, make a realistic plan and focus on small, consistent improvements.

In August, that persistence saw him complete his first half marathon after taking up long-distance running at the age of 53. Now, he’s decided to go a little higher.

Three mountains in three weeks

Over three weeks at the end of September and beginning of October, Ricardo, Director of Data and Operations at The Solicitors’ Charity, will climb Ben Nevis in Scotland, Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in Wales and Scafell Pike in England.

Together, the three climbs will involve around 3,400 metres of ascent, more than a third of the height of Mount Everest. It will be a significant physical challenge, but this time Ricardo’s motivation goes beyond reaching the summit.

Climbing for a cause close to home

Working at The Solicitors’ Charity means Ricardo sees first-hand the difference the right support can make when a solicitor or their family is going through a difficult time. The Solicitors’ Charity provides tailored support across emotional, physical, professional and financial wellbeing. That can mean helping someone access therapy, providing career coaching, offering practical support during illness or helping financially when circumstances become difficult.

For Ricardo, taking on the three peaks is an opportunity to turn a personal challenge into something that can make a difference to others.

Follow Ricardo’s journey

Ricardo will tackle one mountain each week, starting with Ben Nevis before heading to Yr Wyddfa and finally Scafell Pike.

We’ll be following his journey every step of the way. Keep an eye on our LinkedIn page, where we’ll be sharing updates from Ricardo as he takes on each peak and letting you know how his fundraising is progressing. Every donation, however big or small, will help The Solicitors’ Charity continue providing support to solicitors and their dependants when they need it.
