Reducing risk of financial misconduct through strong financial literacy
The Solicitors’ Charity has partnered with Wealthbrite, an award-winning financial education company, to offer fully-funded places on a new online financial literacy course for junior lawyers.
Financial literacy is a crucial skill for junior lawyers. Strong financial literacy is pivotal for making informed financial decisions that lead to better personal and professional outcomes.
Yet 72% of junior lawyers rate their financial literacy as average or below and 34% say money worries affect their performance. It’s time to change this.
That’s why Wealthbrite has teamed up with The Law Society to offer a new online course – Essential Skills for Practice: Introduction to FInancial Literacy course. Through four self-led modules junior lawyers learn the foundational skills to manage their finances. Everything from budgeting, saving, debt management and goal-setting.
The Solicitors’ Charity is proud to be sponsoring a limited number of fully-funded places on this course for low-income junior lawyers. Scholarships are available for lawyers who meet the following criteria:
- practice in England & Wales
- qualified with less than 3 years’ PQE
- earn less than £37,000 annually
- identify as from a low socioeconomic background
We find that people seeking support from The Solicitors’ Charity are younger, many with money management problems which is why we are supporting this effort to improve financial literacy in junior lawyers. If you or someone you know meets the criteria and would benefit from this course, please let them know by sharing details of the scholarship and how to apply or forwarding this email.
🗓️ Course begins Wednesday 5 March
📍 Online course (5 hours – complete at your own pace during 4 weeks’ access to course materials)
🎟️ Apply to gain a scholarship place directly at info@wealthbrite.co.uk before 28 February
